SPECIAL EDUCATION

For academic intervention and acceleration, CCS will be utilizing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is defined as a whole-school, data-driven, prevention-based framework for improving learning outcomes for EVERY student through a layered continuum of evidence-based practices and systems. Within Colorado, there are six Essential Components in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework:

1. Shared Leadership

2. Data-Based Problem Solving and Decision Making

3. Layered Continuum of Supports

4. Evidence Based Instruction, Intervention, and Assessment Practices

5. Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring

6. Family, School, and Community Partnering (FSCP)

We believe that the CCS philosophy and curricula provides an excellent service to these children due to its differentiated nature and its use of concrete materials and manipulative providing a multi-sensory approach to learning. Also, we believe that our flexible design could be particularly beneficial for students with affective needs. We have the ability to address behavioral problems quickly in a personalized manner and can provide learners with as much pull-out time they require while at the same time addressing their academic needs through a highly scaffolded system.

Our staff members are licensed in Special Education (SPED). They write, and administer IEP, as well ad providing SPED services at CCS.
