PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Vicky is a parent of a daughter who has a physical disability. She has experienced many years of IEPs and school-related service issues as she advocated for her daughter. Throughout the advocacy process, she has been able to work with several school systems to successfully implement solutions that have helped her daughter have a meaningful educational experience. While living in Michigan, she received training through Partners in Policymaking, served on the Farmington Public Schools Special Education Study Committee, and was one of the founders of the grassroots parent organization, Everyone Together Oakland County. She has attended numerous conferences and training on assistive technology in order to help support her daughter’s education. 

Since her family relocated to Aurora, Colorado in 2011, Vicky has spent a lot of time volunteering in her children’s school district. She has been involved in the Cherry Creek Special Education Advisory Committee as the transition liaison on the steering committee. She has also participated in the Cherokee Trail High School (CTHS) Parent Accountability Committee, and has served as a parent co-chair on the CTHS International Baccalaureate Parent Booster Organization. She is an active member of myTeam Triumph Rocky Mountain Chapter. This organization creates partnerships between people with disabilities and able-bodied individuals who share a love of racing. The group sponsors teams to participate in 5K and other types of races and brings great enjoyment to those involved. 

In addition to school-related activities, Vicky also volunteers in the community. She is currently an active member of the Aurora Southlands Rotary Club and serves as the head of the Youth Generations Committee, with a focus on the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).  RYLA provides opportunities for teenagers to build foundational leadership skills. Professionally, Vicky is a Realtor with Equity Colorado. She has enjoyed building her business throughout the years. Vicky applies her negotiating and marketing skills as she works with people who are in the market either to buy a new home or sell their house.
